WELCOME TO SOUTHERNERS NETBALL

August 18, 2010
19:00to23:00

It is lovely to welcome the many new players who will be joining Southerners Netball this year  -  not only to the netball side of things, but also to all things Southerners!

Sadly there have been many members who have left Bangkok for bigger and brighter things these past few months, so it is always nice to welcome new faces, whether you’re playing netball or enjoying the opportunity to socialize and meet a great bunch of people!

If you know of anyone – whether friends, work colleagues, or just have met someone interested in playing netball – Southerners are always welcoming new players!

Come along and meet everyone next Wednesday…

New (and old!) club member drinks

July 30, 2010
18:30to23:30

If you’re an old, new or prospective Southerner, get down to Soi 8 Bar (Nana BTS) this Friday evening, 30 July for a cheeky beverage, a free BBQ put on by our sponsor Soi 8 Bar, and no doubt some riveting conversation on all things sport, Thailand or the ideological differences between eastern and western political philosophy.

With the new school year just about to kick off, it’s a great opportunity to introduce the club to any friends or colleagues new to Bangkok.

If you are new in town (or have even been around for a while…), and want to get involved in a spot of netball/touch rugby/cricket/rugby, get down and introduce yourself.

All are welcome!

Southerners S.E. Asian Netball Invitational

September 18, 2010toSeptember 19, 2010

Following the recent (unfortunate) postponement of the Southerners S.E. Asian Invitational, the Club can confirm the tournament will take place the weekend of Saturday 18th September.

Get in touch with Dana Piggot if your team would like to attend!

South-East Asian Invitational Netball Tournament

In May 2008 the Southerners netball crew hosted what was a very successful International tournament here in Bangkok. One which will now become an annual invitational event with participating teams joining from Singapore, Vietnam, Borneo, Hong Kong and of course Bangkok.
The tournament will be hosted at the New International School of Thailand (NIST) on Saturday 23rd May, with teams participating in a Round Robin throughout the day. It is an event which in only one year has developed a very good reputation as being a well organized one with the added bonus of having a high level of on court competition to keep games interesting, great sportsmanship and a lot of fun off court courtesy of ‘Coyotes on Convent’ during the after function – all key factors which have old teams returning and new ones wanting to join in the fun this year!
The after-function will be hosted at ‘Coyotes on Convent’ again this year and would like to welcome all participants, Club members and friends to join.
Southerners would like to welcome all participating teams and hope that this year will be better than last!

BNL Playoffs 2008

Congratulations to the Southerners Netball Crew!

It was great to see such a strong turn out for the BNL playoffs last night which paid off with both Southerners White & Southerners Black moving convincingly from semis through into the finals in both Division 1 & 2.

Southerners White played a dominating game in their semi final game against Londoner, defeating them comfortably before moving through to a very tight finals game against Soi 8. It was a finals game that remained action packed right through until the last couple of minutes and unfortunately Soi 8 pulled away to win by a mere 2 goals. The team should be proud of their outcome – great work on attack, strong defense and all round superb team effort!

Southerners White 20 – Soi 8 22 DIV 2 – RUNNERS UP!

Southerners Black played a strong game against NIST in their semi final game, moving comfortably through to a final against Transpo. A team who Southerners Black have confronted many a times, but each time the game is always fast and furious! This finals was to be Southerners game with a very strong approach in both attack and defense from the first whistle. Southerners dominated the second half of the game with strong passing and court work, to over turn Transpo possession on many occasions and come through with quite a score difference!

Southerners Black 28 – Transpo 11 DIV 1 – WINNERS!

Sadly, we farewell a number of players from our netball squad – Nicole Stanners, Karen Robson & Rach Wheaten – who will all be leaving very shortly. We wish them well in their new ventures and know they will be sadly missed on the netball court next season.

BNL Presentation Night will follow Songkran break – Hodgie & I will keep you informed of details and hope that you’re all able to make it along to celebrate a great netball season. All supporters are invited to join the Southerners netball crew in celebrating!

Thank you to you all for your commitment to Southerners Netball this season and we look forward to seeing you all on the court next season! We have new players joining us in Sept/ Oct for the 08/09 netball season – welcome PK, Laura and Georgie!

We will be emailing you all new season information once we have details from the BNL Committee.

Special thanks to:

• Amanda for your captaincy role with Southerners White.
• All who volunteered their time to referee games throughout the season – this is greatly appreciated and not always an easy job to do but trust me – it does get easier with practice!
• Supporters & Sponsors

Cheers Dee & Hodgie
