COMPETITION RULES

1. Standard rules of cricket apply when enjoying a game of cricket unless noted below!

GAME TIMINGS
2. Match timings are to be as follows and must be adhered to:
Game (a) (1st Innings) - 9.15am - 10.45am
Game (a) (2nd Innings) - 11.00am - 12.30pm
Game (b) (1st Innings) - 1.00pm - 2.30pm
Game (b) (2nd Innings) - 2.45pm - 4.15pm

GENERAL RULES OTHER THAN THE NORM
1. Each team has 1 inning, each consisting of 20 by 6-ball overs (ie. a total of 20 overs per team for each match).

2. Each team shall consist of 11 players.

3. Each of the bowlers can bowl up to a maximum of 3 overs each per match regardless the length of innings.

4. The team bowling FIRST shall complete a 20-over innings in less than 90 minutes. For every 1 over passed the 90minute mark, a penalty of 6 runs will be given to them prior to the start of their innings. Ie: they start their batting with a minus score.

5. The team bowling SECOND shall complete a 20-over innings in less than 90 minutes. For every 1 over passed the 90minute mark, a penalty of 6 runs will be applied.

6. New batsmen must be in position within 2minutes of a wicket falling or they will be incur a 6 run penalty.

7. Only two fielders are allowed outside an inner circle region (30 yard circle),during the first five overs of a team's innings. From over #6 thru to over #10 inclusive, only 4 fielders are allowed outside the 30 yard circle. From over #11 thru over #15 inclusive, there are no fielding restrictions. The last 5 overs of ANY innings, no more than 5 fielders are allowed outside the 30 yard circle.

8. No requirement for any stationary fielders in catching positions.

9. To save time in the field, the first set of 5 overs will be bowled from the same end. The next set of 5 overs (#6-10) will be bowled from the other end. Alternate sets of 5 overs from each end.

10. In the event of rain/weather.wet ground condition delaying the start of the game, 1 over will be deducted from EACH innings per every 7 minutes lost prior to the start of the game or during the first innings of any game. Exceptions as points 9-13 following.

11. If the delay at the start of the game is 60 minutes, then a 12 over per side game will be played with no drinks and immediate change over innings.

12. If the delay at the start of the game is 90 minutes, then a 10 over per side game will be played with no drinks and immediate change over innings. First 5 overs (2 men out). Last 5 overs (4 men out)

13. If the delay at the start of the game is 90-120 minutes, then a 7 over per side game will be played with no drinks and immediate change over innings. First 3 overs (2 men out). Last 4 overs (4 men out)

14. If the delay at the start of the game is 120-140 minutes, then a 5 over per side game will be played with no drinks and immediate change over innings. First 2 overs (2 men out). Last 3 overs (4 men out)

15. If both captains do not wish to wait for the above time frames to start a game, then each team shall nominate 5 players to bowl at a set of wickets.Each bowler will bowl 1 ball at the stumps alternately from each team. After each bowler has bowled 1 ball, the team that has scored the most hits at the stumps will be declared the winner. If scores are tied, keep bowling alternately until a winner is decide……..you know, same as soccer!!

16. In the case of a shortened game, both teams and umpires prior to the start of the shortened game with the concept of rule #7 taken in account will decide fielding restrictions. Exception is for rules #11, #12 & #13 above.

17. In the event of rain/weather, wet ground condition preventing the 2nd innings of any game to be completed within the allotted time frame, the game will be call "abandoned" and the result will be deemed a draw with teams sharing points.

18. The main object is to have a game played. Drinks after 10 overs.

19. No short-pitched bowling allowed. A ball that is deemed to have passed over the shoulder of a batsman will be called a no ball.

20. A full toss over the shoulder of a batsman will be called a no ball regardless of the type of delivery.

21. A batsman cannot be dismissed on the first delivery he receives. If the batsman is "dismissed" by any way within the rules of cricket on his first ball faced, he will remain batting but his team will be penalized 6 runs. This rule will not apply in the last over of any innings - normal cricket rules apply.

22. A batsman can be dismissed run out without facing a delivery.

23. In the event of a tied game with both teams having scored the exact same amount of runs, the team that has lost the lesser amount of wickets will be deemed the winner. If the wickets lost are equal, a bowl off will apply as per written in rule #15.

24. Teams will earn 2 points for a win. 1 points for a draw. 0 points for a loss.

25. If two or more teams are level on points after the preliminary rounds, the following will apply to determine the higher placed team.

• Team which won the game between the two teams will be deemed the higher team
• If a draw was the result and if there are three or more teams level, total runs scored by the team in preliminary games divided by the total wickets lost in preliminary games will determine the higher placed team with the higher number being the best.
• If still equal, the toss of a coin by the organizing committee will decide the placing of teams
.

26. New ball will be used for each innings. Balls are to be returned to the umpires or organizing committee after each match.

27. In all finals a winner must be decided unless the game is washed out prior to starting then it will be played at a later date to be decided by the organizing committee. If a bowl off is required in a final to determine a winner, then follow rule #15.

28. Players playing in a final must have at least played 1 preliminary game. If this can not be done, please request to the organizing committee for exception.
