South-East
Asian Invitational Netball Tournament Saturday 24th
May, 2008
The 'South-East Asian Invitational Netball Tournament'
is a non-profit event organized by the Southerners
Netball Club, aimed purely at providing an opportunity
for fellow netballers to get together and enjoy
a weekend both on and off the court. This is a tournament
which we aim to be a success and in looking to the
future, will become an annual Southerners event
for invited teams only.
If you have any specific stuff you want to know
about BKK or the tournie - give either Nic or myself
a shout, otherwise expect more info in April once
all teams have confirmed if they will be coming.
Cheers

2005 SPONSORS AND NEW
UNIFORMS
2005 saw us change sponsors from Crown to Guinness
and to also acquire a sexier, more aerodynamic kit.
We managed to pick up a good deal from Adidas and
now have a black and white striped uniform with
the Southerners and Guinness logos emblazoned. It
has caused quite a stir on court and off the court
(more later on that one!) and won us best dressed
club for the BNL season!!

BANGKOK NETBALL LEAGUE RESULTS AND BNL END OF SEASON
PRESENTATION
Southerners Netball had it's best results yet this
year in the Bangkok Netball League. After last season
where we struggled to keep a second team together,
we managed to field two full teams. After the first
round the league splits into 3 divisions with Southerners
A in Division 1 and Southerners B in Division 3.

NETBALL
AT THE SOUTHERNERS |
|
The Bangkok Netball League
was formed in the mid nineties by expatriate women
who wished to play netball in Thailand.
Annie Weber, Emma Perry
and Michelle Bradley were all members of the Southerners
Touch team and had played in the Bangkok Netball League
for NIST. In August 2002 while commiserating over
a glass of chardonnay or three that Michelle was departing
to Bahrain the three decided it would be an excellent
idea to form a Southerners Netball team.
Following a mammoth
three week recruiting campaign (mainly at Shenanigans)
and after obtaining a sponsor (Emma Perry to John
Perry "Crown Relocations will sponsor
us won’t they") - Southerners Netball Team
was formed.
Since being formed Southerners
Netball has gone from strength to strength, with strong
results in the Bangkok Netball League, Tournaments
and Thai National Championships. Since it’s
inception, Southerners Netball has also played an
integral role in helping to develop netball in Thailand,
by coaching and training with both the National Open
and Under 21 teams, as well as fundraising to help
with touring funds.
In 2006, Southerners
has received Sponsorship from Guinness and as a consequence
is currently sporting much sexier and aerodynamic
uniforms!
