Sometime in May 2005
The weekend saw an extremely
spirited performance by the Southerners squad in Pattaya
and despite having not trained once together as a team,
managed to get into the semi finals (again) where we
were beaten by the Thai Barbarians.
Day one saw us take on
and beat the Singapore Cricket Club Tankards, Bangkok
Japanese and an extremely hard and heated match against
the Corsairs. Some excellent rugby and good skills as
well as solid defence.
Day two saw the defeat
of the Kaesetsart University before being ousted by
the Thai Barbarians, although we were leading after
the first half. Once again I think the legs let us down
against the Thai speedsters.
So all in all an extremely
positive start to the season. Also a mention must be
made of the performance the three new players to the
team: WWF Dan, who played brilliantly in only his third
outing, Andrew Steel who made some big hits and was
responsible for the temporary loss of my wallet after
drinking Jacks and of course A.D.D. (Attention deficit
disorder) Ultan who also put in a great performance
and had the chaps constantly amused.
Highlights of the weekend:

down on Sukhumvit road the night before

Lowlights of the weekend:
the heat
As discussed chaps, an
awesome start to the season and it illustrates that
Southerners will still very much be a force to be reckoned
with. Special thanks must go to Vaughan, Tommy and Neil;
thanks guys.
