Southerners Rugby and Netball will match up against each other this Thursday in a hotly-contested game of netball. Playing on their home court at NIST, the Southerners Netball girls are clear favourites with Captain Dana Piggott ready to lead the way with her trademark cross-court zigzag and thunderous passing game.

“We always love playing the boys. They bring a different element to the play. They’re competitive, often taller than many of our competitors and help us refine our structures as we look to our future games this year,” said Ms. Piggott.

Skinny Anderson, Captain of the men’s side, is also looking forward to the clash. “It’s great to get together with the girls and have a friendly game – that’s what this club is about. It will also be quite curious to witness our single boys jostle for position as Alpha male. We can’t wait. They’re a lovely bunch who don’t mind a bit of competition, but also a good social after the match,” said Mr. Anderson.

However, regular Southerners Rugby Captain Steve Bell was more pointed in his pre-game analysis.

“Look, let’s not pretend these girls have a chance. What will they bring on Thursday? Nice legs, and that’s about it. We’re just here to give them a few pointers and make them better athletes. I don’t mean to sound rude, but we’re going to absolutely smoke these chicks.”

The game kicks off at 7pm at NIST. Free entry.
