Calling all Southerners Rugby Old Boys!  A reunion will be hosted in Sydney next year to coincide with the final British and Irish Lions Test Match! (5-7 July 2013)

In exactly one year, the British & Irish Lions will be hitting Australia’s shores in search of their first series win since 1989.

So it’s time to dust off the old Southerners kit and come back on tour – whether you’re a Southerner from the inaugural 1994 side, or part of the current crop still smashing it up in Bangkok.

The initial plan is to meet on the Friday and take in the final Sydney test (4-7 JULY), with a long weekend of associated festivities (e.g. formal dinner, BBQ, Sunday afternoon touch etc.) – a great opportunity to catch up with old mates, and meet other like-minded idiots.

Ex-Southerners travelling from abroad may wish to extend the tour to include previous matches, however the weekend of the final Sydney test will be the main rallying point.

A Facebook event has already been set up – keep up to date here.

If you’re interested in joining, please send your:
– Name
– Contact email
– Years you played with the Southerners
– Whether you or your business might be able to help out with venues, organising etc

…to Steve Bell.

Please help by notifying any other former Southerners men who may also be partial to the odd frosty ale and a bit of rugby.  Non-Southerners mates are also welcome, however please note they WILL be fined!

Once we have a better idea of numbers, a more concrete proposal to those who have expressed interest, and ticketing arranged (tickets are apparently due to go on sale around October 2012).

Got contacts in the ARU or Home Unions?  We may need help with the bulk-purchasing of tickets…please email Belly.

Full fixtures for the Lions tour can be found here (1 June – 6 July).
